Yep, it's gone! After preaching to businesses about sticking to the rules and never putting more than 20% text in their ads, Facebook has ditched the rule!

So can we all go crazy and plaster text all over our ads? Well, probably best not.

Although Facebook says "we will no longer penalise ads with higher amounts of image texts in auctions and delivery", you've got to remember that it's all about the user experience, the more enjoyable your ad is to the user, the better it will perform! Is an ad crammed with text or littered with spammy sales lines really what we want to see when we're scrolling on our sofas? Probably not.

If you don't believe me, here's what Facebook goes on to say "Advertisers are encouraged to reduce the amount of text with images, as we have found that images with less than 20% text generally perform better".

You're no longer tied to 20%, so go out and test some new ads, but keep your customer in mind!

It's soooooo important to get into the shoes of your target audience, see things from their point of view, and view life through their eyes. What are their challenges, what do they want, what makes them happy, what problems do they have and most importantly, how can you solve them? 🤔
